A youth-focused climate action workshop brought together students and teachers from various schools across the city for an immersive learning experience centered on climate leadership, behavioral transformation, and sustainable urban development.
Throughout the workshop sessions, participants explored how small, everyday behavioral shifts can collectively shape more resilient and sustainable cities. The program encouraged the youth to critically rethink current practices, creatively reimagine climate solutions, and redefine their roles as active contributors to urban climate initiatives.
The activity opened with remarks from Hon. Betty Lourdes Tabanda, Chair of the Committee on Social Services, Women, and Urban Poor. She emphasized the essential role of behavioral change in transforming communities and strengthening collective action for climate resilience.
The workshop concluded with insights from Hon. Elmer Datuin, Chair of the Committee on Health and Sanitation, Ecology, and Environmental Protection. He highlighted the city’s “Pansa-nopen Tayo” Circular Economy Framework, a citywide initiative promoting resource efficiency, waste reduction, and community-led sustainability efforts. He encouraged the youth to champion circular practices as a key part of their climate advocacy.
The event stands as a testament to Baguio City’s commitment to cultivating informed, empowered, and action-driven young climate leaders.
