EcoCollect: Innovating Food Waste Solutions for Baguio City

It empowered tertiary-level students to apply their technical knowledge to real-world sustainability challenges, specifically on how the City of Baguio could improve its soon-to-be-procured garbage trucks for more efficient solid waste transportation. Through interdisciplinary collaboration and design thinking, participants from different schools in Benguet were able to ideate and propose practical, context-responsive solutions for enhancing the city’s food waste collection system. The workshop encouraged critical thinking, creativity, and teamwork, while also strengthening students’ confidence in presenting and defending their concepts before professionals and stakeholders. By directly engaging with pressing environmental issues, the event not only enhanced participants’ skills and awareness but also inspired a shared commitment to contribute to a greener, more sustainable future for Baguio City.
